This is a permanent position reporting to the Head of Manufacturing. The role will have responsibility for leading a team of Manufacturing Engineers to ensure full support to operational production programme requirements through the deployment of suitable tools, techniques, and processes. A key part of this role is to develop people, processes, and procedures, to support multiple projects and manufacturing activities.

The successful individual will work closely with the wider Manufacturing team to define and implement appropriate manufacturing tools, techniques, processes, jigs, fixtures, and equipment. They will assist with the management and resolution of customer, internal, and supplier quality concerns and improvement activities and promote the use of a cross-functional team approach between engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, and quality functions in project management.
An important aspect of the role will be to drive continuous improvement both within the Manufacturing team and wider operational organisation.
We are seeking someone with a proven track record as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in an automotive OEM, tier one supplier, or related business. You will have extensive knowledge of low/mid volume automation tools and techniques and practical hands-on manufacturing experience in a related industry – likely to be automotive but complemented by defence/aerospace sectors.
Strong practical problem-solving skills with the knowledge and experience to mentor others in the use of disciplined problem-solving tools and techniques such as 8D, FMEA, Control Plans, SOP’s is essential, along with experience in implementing APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process).
Appropriate knowledge of Siemens Teamcenter, MPP, and NoMuda Visual Factory software would be useful as would knowledge and experience of implementing lean methods (5S, Six Sigma, Kaizen). An understanding of statistical techniques (MSA, Acceptance Sampling, Process Capability, Statistical Process Control, Gauge R & R,) is important.
